The Nifty 50 index fell further on Monday, closing at 22,363.35, down 157.10 points or 0.70%. This decline is attributed to ongoing selling pressure, foreign fund outflows, and geopolitical uncertainties affecting investor confidence. Technical indicators suggest that the index is currently in a bearish phase, with the short-term outlook remaining negative.

Market analysts have pointed out that the Nifty is trading below its 11 and 20-day exponential moving averages (EMAs), indicating a lack of upward momentum. Nandish Shah from HDFC Securities noted that for a bullish trend reversal to occur, the index must sustain above last week's high of 22,776. Conversely, if it falls below the support level of 22,180, it could lead to a continuation of the downtrend.

Technical analysis shows that the daily candlestick formed a bearish pattern, suggesting renewed selling pressure. Hitesh Tailor from Choice Broking mentioned that this pattern indicates sellers are active during price recoveries, limiting the potential for a rebound in the near term. Investors are also closely monitoring global developments, particularly in the Middle East, which have contributed to market volatility and concerns regarding crude oil prices.

In parallel, the Bank Nifty index also ended lower, closing near 54,900 after failing to surpass its 20-day EMA. Sudeep Shah from SBI Securities highlighted that the 54,500–54,400 range is a critical support area for the index. A sustained move below this level could lead to further declines towards 53,800. On the upside, resistance is expected in the 55,400–55,500 zone, coinciding with the 20-day EMA.

Looking ahead, market participants will need to watch for any significant developments that could influence investor sentiment and market direction. The upcoming trading sessions will be crucial in determining whether the indices can recover or if further corrections are on the horizon.
