The Maruti YMC, a new electric MPV, has been spotted testing, hinting at a potential 2027 release.
The Maruti YMC is a three-row electric MPV currently in testing.
It may feature a larger battery capacity exceeding 61kWh.
Official details about the launch date remain unconfirmed.
Maruti Suzuki's latest electric offering, the YMC, has been seen on the roads during testing, indicating the company's push into the electric vehicle market. This three-row family utility vehicle, which is speculated to be named YMC, showcases a design that aligns with modern electric vehicle aesthetics.
The YMC features a short bonnet and a distinctive front design with connected daytime running lights (DRLs). The headlight configuration adopts a split design, and there are no visible fog lamp housings. Similar to the e Vitara, the YMC is equipped with active air vents that open as needed to cool the battery pack. Its side profile reveals an extended roofline, while the rear exhibits a boxy silhouette reminiscent of the Victoris model.
Inside, the YMC is expected to include a dual-screen instrument cluster, mirroring the setup found in the e Vitara. It is anticipated that the vehicle will utilize the HEARTECT-E platform, which could accommodate a larger battery pack, potentially exceeding 61kWh. Although specific mechanical details remain speculative, it is likely that the YMC will share components with the e Vitara, enhancing its performance and efficiency.
The introduction of the YMC is significant for Maruti Suzuki as it marks the company's commitment to expanding its electric vehicle lineup. The anticipated price range for the YMC is estimated between 14.00 to 18.00 lakh INR. As the automotive industry shifts towards electric mobility, the YMC could play a crucial role in meeting consumer demand for family-oriented electric vehicles in India.
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that its second electric vehicle will debut in 2027. If the YMC is indeed this model, it is expected to be showcased in the first half of the upcoming calendar year, paving the way for a new era of electric mobility for the brand.
