Jio Platforms IPO Set to Launch on October 21 with $3.8 Billion Target
Jio Platforms is preparing for its initial public offering, expected to open for subscription on October 21, aiming to raise $3.8 billion.
The IPO will be open from October 21 to October 23, with shares listing on October 28.
The offering is projected to be India's largest, consisting entirely of fresh shares.
Funds raised will primarily be used to reduce Reliance Jio's debt of approximately Rs 27,500 crore.
Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, is on the verge of launching its highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO), which is expected to open for subscription on October 21. According to a report by CNBC TV-18, the IPO will remain available for investors until October 23, with the anchor book set to open on October 19. The shares are anticipated to be listed on the stock exchanges by October 28, although these dates may shift depending on market conditions.
The company has garnered positive responses from both foreign institutional investors (FIIs) and domestic investors during recent discussions. Jio Platforms has concluded a series of global roadshows, with key presentations led by Akash Ambani, Managing Director of Jio Platforms, and Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited. These efforts are part of the final preparations for the public offering, which is being positioned as the largest IPO in India’s history.
The IPO is estimated to raise around $3.8 billion, with the entire issue comprising fresh shares. This structure means that the proceeds will directly benefit the company rather than existing shareholders. A significant portion of the funds is earmarked for debt repayment, specifically targeting Reliance Jio Infocomm’s outstanding borrowings, which amount to approximately Rs 27,500 crore. The remaining funds will be allocated for general corporate purposes.
Jio Platforms encompasses Reliance's digital ventures, including its telecommunications services. Reliance Jio Infocomm holds a substantial market share, with 32.89% of fixed-line connections and 39.29% of mobile connections, serving a total of 506 million customers. This strong customer base positions Jio Platforms favorably as it prepares for this major financial event.
Looking ahead, the successful launch of the IPO could significantly impact the financial landscape in India, potentially setting a precedent for future offerings. Investors and market analysts will closely monitor the subscription period and subsequent developments, particularly how the market responds to this landmark IPO. The company’s strategic use of raised funds will also be a focal point as it aims to strengthen its financial standing and expand its operations further.
