Avenue Supermarts, the parent company of the DMart retail chain, has reported a notable financial performance for the second quarter of FY27, with revenue soaring to Rs 19,206 crore. This reflects an impressive year-on-year growth of 18.4%, compared to Rs 16,218 crore during the same period last year. The company's net profit also showed a healthy increase, reaching Rs 803 crore, up 7.6% from Rs 746 crore in the previous year.
The financial results indicate a solid operational performance, with earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) climbing 14.2% to Rs 1,403 crore. However, the EBITDA margin experienced a slight decline, dropping to 7.31% from 7.58% in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This suggests that while revenue and profit are on the rise, the cost structure may be impacting overall profitability.
During this quarter, DMart expanded its footprint by opening 15 new stores, increasing its total number of outlets to 518 as of September 30, 2026. Among these, one store in Navi Mumbai is temporarily closed for reconstruction. The total retail space now spans 2.14 crore square feet, showcasing the company's commitment to growth and accessibility across various regions in India.
DMart operates in multiple states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and others, reinforcing its extensive market presence. CEO Anshul Asawa highlighted the company's strategy of maintaining low operational costs while passing savings on to customers through competitive pricing, a core principle of DMart's business model known as EDLC-EDLP (Every Day Low Cost, Every Day Low Price).
Looking ahead, DMart plans to continue its expansion strategy while focusing on enhancing customer value through its pricing model. The company is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing retail market in India, with further store openings and operational improvements anticipated in the upcoming quarters.
