Kyivstar Headquarters Attacked Amid Ongoing Russian Strikes
Russia's assault on Ukraine's communications infrastructure intensifies, targeting major mobile providers and data centres.
Kyivstar's headquarters was struck with no casualties reported.
Vodafone Ukraine's data centre was also targeted, with injuries reported in Kyiv.
Service disruptions affected approximately 100,000 households in the region.
On September 27, 2026, Russia targeted the headquarters of Kyivstar, Ukraine's largest mobile service provider, as part of a broader offensive against the country's communications infrastructure. The company confirmed the attack to local media, stating that while their head office in Kyiv was hit, there were no reported casualties.
In addition to Kyivstar, Russia's Defence Ministry announced that it had struck a data centre belonging to Vodafone Ukraine, the second-largest mobile network provider in the country. The attack on Vodafone's facility has not elicited a response from the company regarding the extent of the damage or any potential casualties.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that a separate attack on a data centre in Kyiv resulted in injuries to two children and one adult. This incident highlights the ongoing risks faced by civilians amid the conflict, as the strikes continue to disrupt essential services.
The attacks on data centres have had significant repercussions, with Ukraine's Digital Ministry indicating that around 100,000 households in Kyiv and nearby areas experienced service outages due to the bombardments. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha emphasized the critical nature of rapid alerts regarding missile and drone threats, noting that such information is vital for saving lives.
Looking ahead, the situation remains tense as Russia continues its offensive against Ukraine's communication networks. The international community is closely monitoring the developments, and further escalations could lead to increased humanitarian concerns and calls for additional support for Ukraine's defense efforts.
