The victims have been identified as Alexander Maximilian Theiss, a 57-year-old German national and Lufthansa crew member, and 45-year-old Juraj Horvat from Slovakia, who worked as a project manager at IBM.
The unfortunate event unfolded on the hotel's third floor, where both men were found unresponsive in the pool. In a heroic attempt to rescue them, Mathew Desantis, a 41-year-old American tourist, and Rahul Tiwari, a 28-year-old pool attendant, sustained injuries. They were promptly taken to Manipal Hospital for medical attention, where their condition is reported to be stable and out of danger.
