Delhi Traffic Police announces restrictions in CR Park and Greater Kailash-II during Durga Puja celebrations, affecting several routes.
Traffic restrictions will be enforced daily from 4 PM to midnight.
Heavy congestion expected on key roads including Outer Ring Road and Lala Lajpat Rai Marg.
Commuters are advised to use Delhi Metro and plan their journeys in advance.
The Delhi Traffic Police has announced that traffic restrictions will be implemented in the Chittaranjan Park (CR Park) and Greater Kailash-II areas from October 16 to 20. This measure is in anticipation of the significant influx of devotees and visitors for the Durga Puja celebrations, with restrictions set to be enforced daily from 4 PM until midnight.
The advisory highlights that the pandals for the festivities are situated within residential neighborhoods, which have limited road space and no designated parking for visitors. As a result, heavy foot traffic and traffic jams are expected during the evening hours, particularly as large crowds gather to participate in the celebrations.
Affected routes include the Outer Ring Road between Vasant Vihar and Modi Mill Flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg near CR Park, and August Kranti Marg between Ring Road and Outer Ring Road. Other roads likely to experience congestion include Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Guru Ravidas Marg, and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg. Traffic police have urged commuters to avoid these areas unless necessary and to follow the guidance of traffic personnel on-site.
In light of the expected traffic conditions, the Delhi Traffic Police has recommended that commuters utilize the Delhi Metro for easier access to CR Park. Visitors can disembark at either the Greater Kailash or Nehru Enclave Metro stations and walk to the pandals. The advisory also emphasizes the importance of starting journeys early and allowing extra travel time to accommodate potential delays.
Looking ahead, the Delhi Traffic Police is appealing to the public to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with the personnel deployed in the area. This proactive approach aims to minimize congestion and ensure a smooth experience for all attendees during the festive period.
