In a tragic incident in Greater Noida, police have arrested three individuals linked to the deaths of a couple and their three children, whose bodies were discovered at their residence in Nagla Padam village. The arrests were made following a complaint from a relative, as confirmed by Rabupura police station officer Sujeet Upadhyay on Sunday.
The deceased, identified as Mahesh (37), his wife Lalita (35), and their children—Mishti (7), Sakshat (11), and Riyansh (3)—were found dead in their home on Saturday morning. Preliminary investigations revealed that Mahesh had recorded a voice note prior to his death, implicating his elder sister Sunita (45), brother-in-law Shekhar (50), and younger sister Sapna (32) in the circumstances leading to the tragedy.
According to police reports, a potential property dispute may have contributed to the family's distress. It is alleged that Sunita influenced their mother, Chandrawati, to transfer the ownership of the house to her name, which reportedly caused significant emotional turmoil for Mahesh. Neighbors and relatives indicated that Mahesh was particularly upset about the transfer.
CCTV footage from the vicinity showed no signs of any outsiders entering the property, further suggesting that the incident may have stemmed from internal family issues. The post-mortem examinations, which were recorded on video, revealed indications of poisoning, and samples have been sent for forensic analysis to determine the precise cause of death.
The police have filed a case under Section 108 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to abetment of suicide, based on the complaint from Lalita's brother. The three accused, who reside in different parts of Delhi, are currently being interrogated as the investigation continues. Authorities are also exploring the possibility of food poisoning, as reports suggest the family consumed noodles shortly before their deaths.
