Speaking at a public gathering in Jagdalpur, she highlighted the transformation of Bastar into a symbol of cultural unity and ecological responsibility, coinciding with the vibrant celebrations of Bastar Dussehra.
In her address, President Murmu commended the collaborative efforts of both the central and state governments in effectively combating Naxal violence, which had long overshadowed Bastar's rich cultural heritage and hindered its development. With the region now liberated from this threat, she noted that peace is fostering significant advancements, particularly in financial support for tribal entrepreneurs and improved access to national markets.
The President stressed that these initiatives are vital for achieving an inclusive Viksit Bharat by 2047, ensuring that no community is left behind in the pursuit of progress. She called for a renewed focus on the indigenous wisdom of tribal communities, which view nature as a sacred force rather than just a resource. In the face of climate change, she urged the integration of tribal lifestyles into modern development strategies, demonstrating that environmental sustainability and human advancement can coexist.
Before addressing the assembly, President Murmu paid her respects at the Maa Danteshwari Temple, praying for the continued prosperity of Chhattisgarh. She also engaged with traditional community elders, the Manjhi and Chalki, at the historic Muriya Darbar, recognizing their vital role in maintaining social cohesion over centuries. Additionally, she explored a local Dussehra exhibition, praising the craftsmanship and resilience of local artisans.
The visit underscored a transformed Bastar, now free from fear and deeply rooted in its ancestral respect for the environment, as it confidently strides toward a future characterized by equity and self-reliance.
