On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated five significant development projects in Ladakh, valued at approximately ₹3,350 crore. The virtual ceremony highlighted advancements in airport infrastructure, road connectivity, renewable energy, and water conservation efforts in the region.

During the inauguration, PM Modi expressed his enthusiasm for the progress being made in Ladakh, stating, "Today, another chapter is being added to Ladakh’s progress and development." He emphasized that these projects would facilitate easier travel, enhance electricity supply, and improve water availability, while also preserving the region's rich cultural heritage.

Among the key projects unveiled was a new passenger terminal at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, constructed at a cost of ₹640 crore. This terminal, covering 23,800 square meters, is designed to accommodate 3.5 million passengers annually and incorporates geothermal energy to enhance efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. Additionally, the 298-km Nimmu-Padum-Darcha Road was dedicated, providing a vital connection through the Zanskar Valley and improving access for both military and civilian purposes.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the 9 MW Hanu Hydroelectric Project, which aims to bolster the region's energy security by tapping into renewable resources. Alongside this, the first Petroglyph Conservation Park in India was launched to protect the area's archaeological heritage, preserving ancient rock art that reflects thousands of years of history. Furthermore, 40 water bodies were developed under Project Him Sarovar to address water scarcity issues faced by local farmers.

These initiatives are expected to have a profound impact on the local community, improving access to essential services, enhancing agricultural productivity, and supporting sustainable development in Ladakh. Looking ahead, these projects are poised to transform the region's infrastructure and energy landscape, contributing to long-term growth and resilience against climatic challenges.
