Omar Abdullah advises MLAs against lobbying
List of new ministers has already been finalized
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced on Saturday that a reshuffle of his cabinet is set to occur within the first two to three days of the upcoming week. Speaking to reporters in New Delhi, Abdullah revealed that he has already met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to discuss the necessary changes and has requested a specific time for the cabinet expansion.
Abdullah emphasized that the reshuffle was a topic of discussion during his meeting with Sinha and expressed confidence that the expansion would proceed as planned. He stated, "I will carry out the expansion and certain changes in my council of ministers" within the specified timeframe. The Lieutenant Governor is expected to confirm the timing for the reshuffle shortly.
In a clear message to his party members, Abdullah advised MLAs and colleagues to cease their lobbying efforts for ministerial positions. He stated that the list of new cabinet ministers has already been finalized after consultations with National Conference president Farooq Abdullah. "There is no need to knock on Farooq Sahib's door, my door, or anyone else's door," he remarked, urging patience among party members.
Abdullah further elaborated on the situation, expressing his frustration with the influx of messages from party members seeking ministerial berths. He urged them to stop sending lengthy WhatsApp messages and biodatas, emphasizing that he is already aware of their qualifications and contributions. "Whatever has to happen will take place in the next two to three days," he reassured his colleagues.
Looking ahead, the upcoming reshuffle is expected to have significant implications for the governance of Jammu and Kashmir. As the political landscape continues to evolve, the new cabinet composition will likely influence policy directions and administrative strategies in the region. Observers are keenly awaiting the official announcement of the new ministers and the potential impact on local governance and party dynamics.
