The initiative will accommodate over 5,000 residents, including orphans and seniors.
Nita Ambani emphasized the importance of dignity and care for all individuals.
The township will feature various facilities, including homes, a hospital, and educational centers.
On November 1, 2023, Nita Ambani, the Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Foundation, unveiled plans for the Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray, a significant initiative designed to serve as a permanent home for orphaned children, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities. The announcement was made during a foundation-laying ceremony held in Karjat, near Mumbai, where Ambani performed the Bhumi Pujan to mark the beginning of this ambitious project.
The Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray aims to create a nurturing environment that emphasizes dignity, compassion, and personal growth for its residents. This not-for-profit institution will span approximately 100 acres and will be developed in phases, pending necessary approvals. Ambani expressed her vision of establishing a community where residents can thrive, surrounded by nature and supported by medical professionals and caregivers.
During the ceremony, Nita Ambani articulated her family's commitment to this project, stating that it is a heartfelt initiative aimed at providing a loving home for those in need. The township is expected to house more than 5,000 residents, with a total community size of around 15,000 when including caregivers and support staff. Each resident will have a personalized care plan that evolves with their needs, ensuring comprehensive support throughout their lives.
The township will consist of eight residential villages, each named after a sacred river in India, and will include amenities such as homes, a temple, a hospital, playgrounds, and gardens. This inclusive design aims to foster a sense of belonging and community among residents, who will live in family-style homes with dedicated caregivers. The initiative also plans to integrate with the surrounding community, providing access to healthcare and educational resources for local residents.
Looking ahead, the Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray is set to redefine care for individuals with disabilities and those requiring lifelong support. With plans for advanced rehabilitation centers, vocational training facilities, and a hospice wing, the initiative aims to offer a comprehensive approach to care, ensuring that every individual can live with dignity and hope for the future.
