In a significant development in the case involving the shooting at Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, the Mumbai Crime Branch has detained Pranjal Thakral from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. This brings the total number of individuals arrested or detained in connection with the incident to eleven. Officials revealed that Thakral is believed to have supplied a second firearm to one of the shooters and has direct connections to the alleged mastermind, Anil Pandit.
The shooting incident took place on the evening of October 18, when two assailants fired multiple rounds at Shroff's car in Juhu before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle. Authorities reported that five to six shots were discharged, resulting in injuries to Shroff's driver and a bystander, while the actor himself escaped unharmed. The motorcycle used in the attack was later discovered abandoned in Andheri.
Following the initial arrests, the Mumbai Police confirmed that all suspects would face charges under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Investigators have commenced the process of gathering evidence and preparing documentation to formally invoke this legislation. The case was transferred from the Juhu Police to the Mumbai Crime Branch's Anti-Extortion Cell for further investigation.
Anil Pandit, a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has claimed responsibility for orchestrating the attack. The three shooters involved were apprehended in Kota, Rajasthan, while attempting to flee to Nepal via Delhi. Notably, two women have also been arrested for allegedly supplying weapons to the shooters. Reports indicate that the gang initially intended to target another high-profile individual but switched to Shroff due to perceived vulnerabilities in his security.
In light of the incident, Shroff's team has issued a warning against the spread of false information, unauthorized statements, and AI-generated videos misattributed to the actor. They have urged media outlets and social media platforms to verify the authenticity of information before dissemination. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover further details surrounding this alarming incident.
