He stated that both nations are 'perfectly aligned' on critical issues that will influence the global landscape in the coming years.
In his address to leading figures from Indian industry, including notable names like Anand Mahindra and Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Rubio highlighted the transformative potential of advancements in artificial intelligence and quantum computing. He expressed confidence that the US-India relationship could play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the global economy, asserting that the collaboration between the two countries is essential for harnessing new technologies for public benefit.
Rubio pinpointed emerging technologies and the security of international shipping routes as areas where US and Indian interests converge. He argued that economic growth is closely tied to the freedom of movement for goods across borders, advocating for a 'free and secure Indo-Pacific' where no single nation can dominate international shipping lanes. Despite acknowledging that no two countries can agree on every issue, he emphasized the extraordinary alignment on core matters between the US and India.
In addition to discussing US-India relations, Rubio defended the necessity of maintaining ties with Pakistan, despite existing disagreements. He noted that the US must engage with Pakistan due to its nuclear capabilities and geographic importance. Rubio suggested that dialogue with Pakistan could potentially help mitigate concerns that India has regarding regional security. He also confirmed that the next Quad leaders' summit is scheduled to take place in Manila next month, indicating ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
Looking ahead, Rubio expressed his intention to return to India in three months, signaling a commitment to deepening the US-India partnership. His remarks underscore the importance of collaboration between the two nations in addressing global challenges while navigating complex international relationships.
