Gurgaon Couple Found Dead After Chilling Email Sent
An email stating 'we are leaving this world' led to the tragic discovery of an IT professional and his wife in Gurgaon.
A couple was found dead in their apartment following a concerning email sent by the husband.
Investigators suspect a murder-suicide scenario, with the husband possibly killing his wife before taking his own life.
Family members report no known marital issues, but the husband had been undergoing treatment for depression.
In a tragic incident in Gurgaon, an email sent by an IT professional at approximately 7 am on Wednesday triggered a series of events that led to the discovery of him and his wife deceased in their apartment. The email, which alarmingly stated, "we are leaving this world," prompted colleagues to contact the landlord, who found 30-year-old Mohammad Aslam hanging and his wife, 28-year-old Farhana, on the floor with an injury to her neck.
Upon arriving at the scene in Tower 7 of M3M Marina, the landlord alerted the local police. Inside the apartment, authorities discovered a note with the same chilling message as the email, alongside the words "I love you" written on Farhana's clothing. Investigators are currently analyzing the evidence collected from the apartment to determine the circumstances surrounding the couple's deaths.
Police are working under the assumption that Aslam may have killed Farhana before taking his own life, although the exact sequence of events and the causes of death remain unclear. A murder case has been registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Family members from Kerala are grappling with the shocking news, stating they were unaware of any marital discord and described the couple as having a close relationship. They did reveal, however, that Aslam had been receiving treatment for depression for about 18 months.
The couple had moved to Gurgaon from Bengaluru just three months prior. Aslam, originally from Kozhikode, had started working for an Indonesia-based IT firm, while Farhana, from Malappuram, was employed remotely by a Bengaluru-based company. They had married earlier in 2023 and spent two years living in Bengaluru before relocating.
Relatives suspect that work-related stress may have contributed to the tragedy, although they have no concrete evidence of any issues the couple faced. Faisal, Farhana's brother, expressed disbelief at the incident, noting that they had shared a strong bond and often traveled together. As the investigation continues, police have collected various items from the apartment for forensic analysis, including laptops and mobile phones. The autopsy results will be crucial in determining the cause of death, with authorities stating that the investigation is ongoing.
