Following the severe flash floods in Nepal, the External Affairs Ministry reported that at least 320 Indians are currently uncontactable. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has been actively involved in coordinating relief efforts, receiving 21 rescued pilgrims from Tamil Nadu on August 28, 2026. He assured additional disaster relief support during discussions with his Nepali counterpart.
A third flight carrying humanitarian assistance has arrived in Kathmandu, delivering essential supplies including food packets and medical teams. India is also providing Bailey bridges to restore connectivity in affected areas. The Indian government is making arrangements for the return of stranded Indians, while awaiting a response from Nepal regarding further assistance.
