Delhi Police Unveils Video of Assault on CRPF Constable During CJP Protest
A woman posing as a YouTuber allegedly assaulted a CRPF constable during a protest in Delhi, prompting police investigations.
The incident occurred on October 16 near Rajiv Chowk Metro Station.
The Cockroach Janta Party organized the protest against the arrest of its members.
Police are reviewing footage to identify those involved and plan legal actions.
On October 16, the Delhi Police released a video showing an alleged assault on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable during a protest organized by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Connaught Place. The incident took place near Gate No. 6 of Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, where a woman, who claimed to be a YouTuber, slapped the paramilitary officer amid the protest activities.
The CJP, led by Abhijeet Dipke, had called for the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' march to voice opposition against what they termed the illegal arrests of their members, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. These individuals were detained earlier in the week for attempting to enter Jantar Mantar, which had been designated off-limits for protests. The march aimed to highlight grievances against the government and the recent Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
According to police sources, multiple officers and paramilitary personnel were targeted during the protest. Authorities are currently analyzing footage from various cameras in the area to identify the individuals involved in the assault. Legal action is being prepared against those responsible, as the police aim to ensure accountability for the incident.
The implications of this incident extend beyond the immediate assault. The CJP's protest reflects broader tensions within the political landscape, as the party and the opposition INDIA bloc have been actively challenging government policies. The arrests of CJP leaders and the subsequent protests underscore the ongoing struggle for political expression and the right to protest in India.
Looking ahead, the Delhi Police plan to present Abhijeet Dipke before the Special Executive Magistrate court following his preventive arrest. The situation remains fluid as authorities continue to monitor protests and maintain public order in the capital. The CJP's actions and the police response will likely influence future demonstrations and political discourse in the region.
