On October 17, CISF personnel at the Jama Masjid Metro Station in Delhi apprehended a man identified as Mohd. Shuaib, who attempted to flee after a suspicious object was detected during baggage screening. The incident unfolded when security staff noticed a dense object on the X-ray baggage inspection system (XBIS) screen, prompting immediate action.

Shuaib, who claimed to be an NRI residing in Kuala Lumpur, was intercepted near the exit gate as he tried to escape. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Delhi Police for further investigation. Authorities reported that Shuaib had arrived in Delhi a day earlier and was en route to Lajpat Nagar when he was detained.

Upon examination of his belongings, police discovered approximately 155 grams of a gold powder-like substance concealed within an undergarment in his backpack. Shuaib stated that he worked in the textile sector and had brought the substance from Malaysia. However, he could not provide any documentation to prove ownership or a valid reason for possessing it.

The police initially suspected the substance might be narcotic or psychotropic, leading them to contact the Narcotics Department for analysis. Fortunately, the tests revealed that it was not a narcotic, but the investigation is ongoing. Legal proceedings against Shuaib have commenced under the Delhi Police Act at the Supreme Court Metro Police Station.

This incident highlights the vigilance of CISF personnel in maintaining security at metro stations. Their swift response not only prevented a potential security breach but also led to the apprehension of a suspect, showcasing the importance of thorough screening processes in public transport systems.
