The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a strong critique against the Congress party for its lack of response regarding Captain Smit Machchhar, who was injured during an attack by his co-pilot on a flydubai flight. Sudhanshu Trivedi, BJP spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP, expressed disappointment over Congress's silence, emphasizing that this incident should be a source of national pride. He questioned why prominent Congress leaders have not publicly recognized Machchhar's courageous actions, stating, "Not a single word, not a single post, and not a single press statement has come from the Congress family for Captain Smit Machchhar. This raises a serious question."

Captain Machchhar was attacked on a flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, which was carrying 174 passengers. Despite sustaining serious injuries, he managed to unlock the cockpit door, allowing others to intervene and prevent a potential disaster. The aircraft was safely diverted to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, following the incident. Trivedi contrasted the Congress's silence with the praises received by Machchhar from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and international leaders, highlighting a perceived lack of support from the opposition party.

In his remarks, Trivedi specifically targeted Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, suggesting that their political calculations influenced their response to the incident. He noted, "Rahul Gandhi, the ‘wayward prince’ of the Gandhi family, seems to be so ‘terrified of the vote bank’ that he is not able to utter a single word to hail the valour of Machchhar."

Trivedi further accused the Congress party of providing “silent support to terrorism” and called for the party's leadership to clarify their stance. He also linked the incident to the Congress's recent organizational changes in Uttar Pradesh, where new appointments were made, including Aradhana Mishra-Mona as state president and Imran Masood as working president. Trivedi criticized these appointments, particularly highlighting Masood's controversial past remarks.

As the political landscape evolves, the BJP's criticism of the Congress party may have implications for both parties as they navigate public perception and electoral strategies. The BJP's emphasis on national pride and security in this context could resonate with voters as the parties prepare for upcoming elections.
