On October 3, 2026, Union Minister Amit Shah addressed a gathering in Bhopal, announcing that the implementation of new criminal laws will ensure that criminal cases are resolved within three years, even if they reach the Supreme Court. This statement was made during the 'Gaupalak Sammelan', a conference for cattle rearers, where he also inaugurated a state-level exhibition showcasing the new criminal codes.

Mr. Shah emphasized that the previous justice system was often criticized for delays, famously referred to as 'tareekh pe tareekh' (date after date). He expressed confidence that with the new laws, which are expected to be fully operational within one to one-and-a-half years, any FIR filed will lead to a conviction within three years. He noted that these new laws were designed to protect the rights and dignity of Indian citizens, contrasting them with the colonial laws they replace.

The three new codes — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) — officially came into effect on July 1, 2024, replacing the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act, respectively. Mr. Shah highlighted the integration of modern technologies such as digital evidence and online hearings into the new system, aiming to create one of the most advanced criminal justice systems globally.

In addition to his remarks on the justice system, Mr. Shah laid the foundation for a ₹255-crore milk processing plant in Ujjain, which will have the capacity to process 300,000 liters of milk per day. He inaugurated additional facilities in Bhopal and Shivpuri, aimed at enhancing the income of local cattle rearers, who he noted are often exploited by middlemen in the market.

Mr. Shah criticized the Congress party for its past governance, claiming that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India's milk production has significantly increased. He stated that per capita milk availability has risen from 307 grams per day in 2013-14 to 485 grams now, attributing this growth to the efforts of the BJP-led government. Looking ahead, the government aims to further strengthen the cooperative sector to benefit local farmers.
