Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be present at the Air Force Day aerial display in Varanasi today, commemorating the 94th anniversary of the Indian Air Force (IAF). The event, titled 'Wings over Ganges,' is scheduled to begin around 1 PM at Namo Ghat, with additional dignitaries including Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in attendance.

This year's aerial display will feature an impressive lineup of aircraft, including the indigenous Tejas, Light Combat Helicopter Prachand, SU-30MKI, and Rafale jets. The event aims to highlight the operational synergy between the Indian Air Force, Navy, and Army, showcasing their joint capabilities in aerial operations. Wing Commander Debartho Dhar, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence, expressed confidence in the preparations for the grand finale of the display.

In anticipation of the high-profile event, Varanasi police have heightened security measures throughout the region. Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal confirmed that personnel have been strategically deployed along VVIP routes and at the event venue, with drones and CCTV cameras monitoring the area. He emphasized the importance of maintaining public safety and convenience while ensuring the security of the Prime Minister and other dignitaries.

The preparations for the air show have been closely monitored by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who recently reviewed the arrangements to ensure public access to the Ganga ghats. In a bid to maintain order, the sale and slaughter of meat have been prohibited within a 20-30 kilometer radius of the venue from October 19 to 26.

In addition to the aerial display, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a new garment manufacturing facility by Arvind Limited in the Kachhwa area at around 11 AM. This initiative is expected to bolster India's textile industry and promote local industrial growth. Modi is also anticipated to engage with approximately 300 women trained in garment manufacturing, further emphasizing Uttar Pradesh's emerging role as a hub for industrial investment.
