CD Projekt Red has announced the release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, scheduled for September 29, 2026. This updated edition is being positioned as the definitive version of Geralt's acclaimed 2015 adventure. The remaster will be available as a free upgrade for current owners on platforms including PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and it marks the game's debut on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Furthermore, it will also be accessible on Battle.net through a new collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment.
The global launch will occur simultaneously at 10:00 AM UTC on September 29, translating to various local times: 3:00 AM PDT and 6:00 AM EDT in the United States, 11:00 AM BST in the United Kingdom, and 12:00 PM CEST across Europe. In Japan and South Korea, the game will unlock at 7:00 PM JST and KST, respectively, while Australian players can access it at 8:00 PM AEST.
Players who own The Witcher 3 on platforms such as Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store will receive the remaster automatically, which includes the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions. For Nintendo Switch 2 users, the native version will be available at no additional cost. The full installation size for the remaster is approximately 70 GB, while the Switch 2 version will require around 43.5 GB. All existing save files will be compatible with the remastered edition.
The remaster introduces several gameplay enhancements, including revamped combat mechanics, improved Sign casting, and a rebalanced stamina system. New execution finishers and refined monster hitboxes are also part of the update. Additionally, Roach's movement through dense areas has been improved, and a new transmogrification system allows players to change their gear's appearance without losing its stats. The skill tree has been adjusted to support hybrid builds more effectively, especially on the Death March difficulty. Enhanced textures for water, foliage, and armor will also be featured in the game.
Looking ahead, this remaster paves the way for CD Projekt Red's future plans for the franchise, which includes a paid expansion titled Songs of the Past set for release in 2027, followed by The Witcher 4, anticipated in 2028.
