The Guyana Amazon Warriors achieved their fifth consecutive victory in the Caribbean Premier League by defeating the Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets in Providence. This match, held on September 5, 2026, showcased the Warriors' dominance as they chased down a target of 160 runs with 16 balls to spare.
The match began with the Warriors opting to field first, a decision that paid off as Dwaine Pretorius made an early impact, claiming two wickets during the powerplay. The Kingsmen struggled to build momentum, finishing their innings at 159 for 7, with Hassan Khan's late surge of 62 runs off 29 balls providing some resistance.
Despite the Kingsmen's efforts, the Amazon Warriors quickly regained control. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Mavendra Dindyal set a strong foundation during the chase, with Gurbaz scoring 54 runs and Dindyal contributing 33 runs off just 17 balls. Their partnership ensured that the Warriors maintained a steady run rate, effectively countering the Kingsmen's bowling attack.
The victory not only solidified the Amazon Warriors' position in the league but also highlighted their impressive form this season. With five wins from five matches, they are now just one point behind the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons, who have played four additional games. The Kingsmen, on the other hand, find themselves in third place, trailing the Warriors by a narrow margin.
Looking ahead, the Amazon Warriors will aim to continue their winning streak in the upcoming matches, as they seek to secure the top position in the league. The next fixtures will be crucial for both the Warriors and the Kingsmen as they navigate the competitive landscape of the Caribbean Premier League.
