NDA's Stronghold: PM Modi's Coalition Set for 326 Seats, But Challenges Loom
According to the latest India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation survey, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure 326 seats if Lok Sabha elections were to occur today. This marks a decline from the previous survey, which anticipated 352 seats for the NDA. Despite this decrease, the coalition remains in a favorable position to maintain power, reflecting a steady, albeit slightly diminished, trust among voters.
The survey, conducted with a sample size of over 25,000 participants, indicates that while the NDA's popularity is waning, it still holds a significant lead over the opposition. The INDIA bloc, led by Congress, is expected to win around 185 seats, a slight increase from the 182 seats predicted earlier this year. This is a considerable drop from the 234 seats the opposition secured in the 2024 elections, suggesting that the NDA continues to dominate the political landscape despite emerging challenges, particularly from younger voters.
The Big Picture: The Mood of the Nation survey, a bi-annual assessment, reveals shifting dynamics in Indian politics. With the BJP forecasted to win 261 seats, down from 287, and Congress on the rise with a projection of 106 seats, the upcoming elections could see a significant reshaping of alliances and voter sentiments. The NDA's vote share is anticipated to dip slightly to 45.1%, while the INDIA bloc is expected to maintain a vote share of 39.1%, indicating a competitive electoral landscape ahead.
