In a significant development for the drought-affected village of Tulshi in Maharashtra's Solapur district, residents can finally expect relief from a prolonged water crisis that has persisted for 25 years. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Jaykumar Gore announced that a pipeline is set to be installed by January 2024, following a commitment from the state government to address the dire situation.

During his visit to Tulshi, Minister Gore emphasized the seriousness of the water crisis, noting that while neighboring villages have benefited from the Sina-Madha water project, Tulshi has been overlooked for decades. He stated, "The chief minister has taken cognizance of Tulshi’s water crisis. He asked me to inspect the ground reality here. And it is indeed a serious problem."

The minister revealed that the government is currently seeking the necessary permissions from the Water Resources Department to implement a closed pipeline system that will transport water from the Sina-Madha project directly to Tulshi. "As directed by the CM, all permissions will be granted for the closed pipeline project. We are determined to resolve Tulshi’s water crisis," Gore affirmed, assuring residents that the project would be completed by early next year.

This announcement follows a recent survey conducted by Solapur District Collector S Karthikeyan, who informed villagers about a hydrological assessment carried out by the irrigation department. He indicated that a proposal for a canal network would be submitted to the state government, which has encouraged residents to remove the “for sale” signs that had been displayed due to the water scarcity.

Tulshi's sarpanch, Sharad More, highlighted that the introduction of a water pipeline would not only provide immediate relief but also aid in recharging the Bhavani percolation lake, which has faced significant depletion this year. The community is hopeful that these developments will lead to sustainable water solutions and improve the overall quality of life in the village.

Looking ahead, the government is committed to ensuring the timely completion of the pipeline project and exploring additional measures to enhance water availability in Tulshi and surrounding areas. With the promise of a new pipeline, residents are optimistic about a future free from the constraints of water scarcity.
