MPSC has canceled the recruitment process for the Drug Inspector post due to malpractice allegations.
In a bid to mediate the ongoing protests by Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) aspirants, Nationalist Congress Party MP Supriya Sule has reached out to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Sule emphasized the need for immediate dialogue to address the grievances of the protesting students, who have raised serious concerns over examination irregularities. She stated, "I had called the Chief Minister and urged that the agitation be paused so a solution could be found through dialogue."
The MPSC protests have erupted following allegations of malpractice during the screening examination conducted on March 22. Students have been vocal in Pune, demanding accountability and action regarding the alleged irregularities linked to the commission. The situation escalated after the MPSC initiated a preliminary inquiry into the complaints received about the examination process.
The commission had previously advertised for the Drug Inspector position on July 29, 2025, with the screening exam held at six divisional headquarters across Maharashtra. Results were announced on June 12, revealing that 506 candidates qualified for the interview stage, which took place from July 1 to July 22. However, between July 22 and July 26, numerous complaints surfaced, alleging that some candidates had accessed the question paper prior to the exam, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the process.
In light of these allegations, the MPSC took decisive action by canceling the entire recruitment process for the Drug Inspector role. This decision has further fueled the protests, as candidates demand transparency and fairness in the examination process. The ongoing unrest highlights the broader issues within the MPSC and its handling of recruitment procedures, which have come under scrutiny from various quarters.
Looking ahead, the outcome of Supriya Sule's appeal to CM Fadnavis remains uncertain. The next steps will be crucial in determining whether a constructive dialogue can be established between the government and the protesting students. As the situation develops, both the MPSC and the Maharashtra government will need to address the concerns raised by the aspirants to restore faith in the recruitment process.
