Resonia Completes 100% Acquisition of Balsane Power Transmission
Resonia Ltd has officially acquired Balsane Power Transmission Ltd, enhancing Maharashtra's power infrastructure.
Resonia acquired a full stake in Balsane Power Transmission Ltd on September 28, 2026.
The project will facilitate 3 GW of power evacuation across a 210 km network in Maharashtra.
The development includes a new substation and aims to improve power transmission efficiency in the state.
Resonia Ltd has announced the completion of its acquisition of a 100% equity stake in Balsane Power Transmission Ltd (BPTL) as of September 28, 2026. This acquisition marks a significant step in enhancing the intra-state power transmission capabilities in Maharashtra, particularly focusing on the regions of Dhule and Nashik.
The Balsane project, which spans approximately 210 kilometers, is designed to bolster power transfer within Maharashtra and facilitate the integration of additional generation capacity into the state’s existing transmission network. The project has been awarded by the Maharashtra State Transmission Utility (STU), with REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) overseeing the bidding process.
Key features of the project include the establishment of a 765/400/220kV Air Insulated Substation (AIS) at Balsane in Dhule. This substation will be equipped with two 1,500 MVA 765/400kV Interconnecting Transformers (ICTs) and four 500 MVA 400/220kV ICTs. The transmission network will interlink Balsane with critical nodes across Maharashtra through a combination of 765kV, 400kV, and 220kV transmission lines, enhancing the overall capacity and reliability of power distribution in the region.
Prashant Sinha, CEO of Resonia, emphasized the importance of this project in meeting Maharashtra's growing power demands and renewable energy integration. He stated that the Balsane project adds significant evacuation capacity and strengthens the transmission backbone between Dhule and Malegaon. The establishment of a 765kV network will improve the interconnection of both inter-state and intra-state transmission systems, addressing existing challenges in the transmission infrastructure.
Looking ahead, the Balsane project represents a crucial milestone for Resonia as it marks the company's first foray into intrastate transmission projects in Maharashtra. The successful execution of this project is expected to set a precedent for future developments in the region, reinforcing Resonia's commitment to delivering reliable and technologically advanced grid infrastructure.
