Rahul Narwekar Appointed as India Representative on CPA

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar has been selected to represent the India Region on the International Executive Committee of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), as announced in a letter from Jarvis Matiya, Deputy Secretary-General of CPA, on October 20. This prestigious appointment highlights Narwekar's role in fostering international parliamentary cooperation from Maharashtra.

The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, based in London, serves as a vital platform for parliamentarians and parliamentary staff from Commonwealth nations to collaborate and share best practices. The organization aims to enhance democratic governance and facilitate the exchange of parliamentary techniques among its members.

Officials emphasized that Narwekar's appointment is a significant achievement, showcasing the rich parliamentary heritage of the Maharashtra Legislature. The Maharashtra Branch of the CPA was the first established in India, underscoring the state's longstanding commitment to parliamentary excellence and international engagement.

This role will enable the Maharashtra Legislature to actively participate in global parliamentary discussions, allowing for the exchange of effective practices and strengthening democratic institutions. An orientation meeting for the CPA's regional representatives and Executive Committee members is scheduled for November 5.
