The Shiv Sena is focused on the upcoming assembly elections to fulfill its leadership goals.
In a recent address to the media in Thane, Shiv Sena leader and Cabinet minister Pratap Sarnaik expressed the party's commitment to strengthening its position ahead of the next assembly elections. Sarnaik stated that the ultimate goal is to see Eknath Shinde, the current Deputy Chief Minister, return to the role of Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He noted that while the party currently lacks the necessary numbers, efforts are underway to increase their strength in the upcoming electoral battle.
Sarnaik highlighted Shinde's proactive role in relief efforts during various crises, including natural disasters in Kolhapur, Kerala, and Kashmir. He argued that this dedication has endeared Shinde to the public and party members alike, reinforcing the desire for him to lead the state once more. "The common man and every Shiv Sainik want to see him as chief minister," Sarnaik remarked, emphasizing the need for a solid electoral base to achieve this ambition.
Addressing recent criticisms directed at Shinde, particularly regarding his visit to Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff, Sarnaik defended the Deputy Chief Minister's actions. He explained that Shinde's engagement with the film industry was a necessary duty, especially in the absence of the Chief Minister, aimed at ensuring a secure environment for the industry to thrive. Sarnaik assured that justice would be served in any cases involving Shroff or other prominent figures, stating, "Whoever is found guilty will not be spared by the state."
Sarnaik also took a stand against the Opposition's criticisms, particularly concerning Shinde's alleged neglect of the Purnekar family following a tragic incident. He pointed out that Shinde was not in town at the time and accused the Opposition of politicizing the situation rather than addressing it constructively. "I have never seen such narrow-mindedness in politics," he stated, reinforcing his support for Shinde amidst the ongoing political discourse.
Looking ahead, the Shiv Sena is gearing up for the assembly elections, with a clear focus on increasing its influence and voter base. Sarnaik's statements reflect a strategic approach to rally support for Shinde's potential return as Chief Minister, as the party prepares for the challenges that lie ahead in the political landscape of Maharashtra.
