Maharashtra's Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated three new flyovers in Mumbai, aiming to significantly reduce cross-city travel time to just 50 to 60 minutes. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance connectivity within the city, making it easier for residents to navigate between different regions.

The newly constructed flyovers are designed to address the persistent traffic congestion that plagues Mumbai. The Sion railway overbridge, a critical component of this project, replaces a 112-year-old structure that was deemed unsafe in 2019. This modern bridge will support the construction of additional railway lines under the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP-II), which is expected to improve suburban and long-distance train services.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, the Sion overbridge was completed ahead of its February 2027 deadline, showcasing efficient project management. CM Fadnavis highlighted that these developments will not only enhance traffic flow but also facilitate the introduction of the fifth and sixth railway lines, thereby increasing the frequency of suburban train services.

The second flyover, located at Vidyavihar, connects Ramchandra Chemburkar Marg and Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, aiming to reduce travel time between these areas from approximately 30 minutes to just 10 minutes. This improvement is expected to alleviate congestion on the Ghatkopar railway overbridge, further enhancing commuter experience.

The third flyover, measuring 1.26 kilometers, is situated near Hotel Ratnagiri junction in Goregaon East and is part of the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road project. It connects General Arun Kumar Vaidya Marg with Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari Road. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and other notable officials, marking a significant step towards improving urban infrastructure in Mumbai.
