Maratha activist Manoj Jarange alleges a conspiracy to undermine Deputy CM Eknath Shinde's political standing.
Manoj Jarange claims an audio clip implicating Shinde is part of a conspiracy.
He demands an impartial investigation into the authenticity of the clip.
Sanjay Raut calls for an ED probe into the alleged Rs 500 crore payment.
In a significant allegation, Maratha quota activist Manoj Jarange has claimed that an audio clip suggesting a Rs 500 crore payment routed through Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde is part of a conspiracy aimed at damaging the political career of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde. Speaking to reporters in Jalna, Jarange emphasized the need for a thorough investigation to ascertain the authenticity of the recording and to identify those responsible for it.
Jarange expressed concerns that invoking artificial intelligence to dismiss the audio could provide the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with an 'escape route.' He urged Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to conduct a comprehensive inquiry, warning that neglecting the matter could lead to public speculation about Fadnavis's involvement. He stated, "If he investigates the matter thoroughly, he will understand whether there was a game being played against him and Shinde."
The activist suggested that the audio recording indicates a deliberate attempt to manipulate public perception and target political adversaries. He speculated that a powerful organization, potentially backed by a senior national leader, might be orchestrating this alleged operation. Jarange firmly stated that the BJP should not use AI as a justification to evade scrutiny, asserting that the possibility of a conspiracy against Shinde's political career must be thoroughly examined.
In parallel, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Maharashtra Police into the claims surrounding the purported Rs 500 crore transaction. Raut's letter urged authorities to invoke the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to uncover the source of the funds and to determine why they did not reach Jarange. He alleged that senior BJP members, including Eknath Shinde and his son, are implicated in this significant scam.
Responding to Raut's letter, Jarange stated he was not aware of its details but reiterated the necessity of an investigation by the ED or another agency capable of conducting a probe free from political influence. The unfolding situation raises questions about the political dynamics in Maharashtra and the potential ramifications for those involved as the investigation progresses.
