Maharashtra to Reserve Jobs for 282 Navy Agniveers
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announces job reservations for Agniveers in state police.
282 Navy Agniveers will be appointed as police constables in Maharashtra.
The central government has approved the initial list of Agniveers for appointment.
This initiative aligns with similar reservations being implemented in other states.
In a significant move, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced on October 23 that the state government will provide job reservations for 282 Navy Agniveers as police constables. This decision was made public through a post on X, marking a notable step in supporting the Agniveer scheme, which allows young individuals to serve in the armed forces for four years.
The announcement comes as part of a broader trend across India, where various states are implementing similar reservations for Agniveers. Fadnavis confirmed that the central government has approved the initial list of Agniveers, which includes 150 Seaman Deckside and 132 Seaman Engineside personnel. The appointment orders have already been issued, signaling a swift implementation of this initiative.
CM Fadnavis expressed his enthusiasm for the decision, stating, "We had taken the decision in the state cabinet to provide reservation in government jobs to the Agniveers fighting for the country." He emphasized the importance of integrating these skilled individuals into the workforce, highlighting their contributions to national service.
This move is part of a larger strategy to attract and retain young talent within the armed forces and subsequently in civilian roles. The AGNIPATH scheme, under which Agniveers are recruited, aims to create a more youthful and technologically adept military force. Similar initiatives have been observed in states like Assam and Gujarat, where job reservations for Agniveers have also been established.
Looking ahead, the Maharashtra government plans to continue supporting Agniveers through various employment initiatives. As more states adopt similar policies, the integration of Agniveers into civilian roles is expected to enhance the workforce and provide valuable opportunities for those who have served the nation.
