The first CAP round had the highest admissions with 16,528 students.
Maharashtra has announced that a total of 31,521 students have enrolled in B.Pharmacy and Pharm.D. programs for the academic year 2026-27. This figure was reported by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell, which oversaw the admissions across 530 pharmacy colleges in the state. The total intake capacity for these programs is 47,192 seats, indicating that 15,671 seats remain vacant following the completion of the admission process.
The admission process included both the four-year B.Pharmacy and the six-year Pharm.D. programs. The CET Cell conducted four rounds of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), followed by an institutional-level round to fill any remaining seats. Online registration for these programs commenced on July 31, 2026, and concluded on August 23, 2026, allowing candidates to participate in the centralized admission process.
The first round of admissions was particularly successful, accounting for 16,528 enrollments, the highest among all rounds. The second round saw 7,283 admissions, while the third and fourth rounds recorded 2,895 and 1,938 admissions, respectively. Additional categories, including the institutional round and other quotas, contributed to the overall enrollment figures, with 940 admissions from the institutional round and 1,907 from the ACAP round. Furthermore, 30 students gained admission through specific regional quotas.
Comparing the current year's figures to previous years, the 2026-27 admissions show a decrease of 1,432 students from the 2025-26 total of 32,953. The enrollment for this year is also lower than the 2024-25 figure of 31,827 and significantly higher than the 2023-24 total of 28,340. This trend indicates fluctuations in student interest in pharmacy programs over the past four academic years.
The Maharashtra CET Cell released these statistics through an official press statement on October 30, 2026, from Mumbai. As the academic year progresses, the CET Cell may implement further strategies to attract students to fill the remaining seats in pharmacy programs across the state.
