On October 11, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the critical role of Bloomberg's partnership in advancing the state's development, particularly in Mumbai. This statement followed a meeting with Bloomberg founder Mike Bloomberg, attended by key officials including Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide and investment advisor Kaustubh Dhavse.

Fadnavis welcomed Bloomberg to Mumbai, noting the similarities between the two megacities and acknowledging Bloomberg's significant contributions to Maharashtra. He pointed out that Bloomberg has been operational in India for 30 years, with Maharashtra being pivotal to its success. The company's Indian headquarters is located in Mumbai, and its engineers in Pune are tasked with developing Bloomberg Terminals.

The Chief Minister elaborated on the various initiatives supported by the collaboration between the Maharashtra government and Bloomberg, which include projects focused on road safety, health information systems, and urban innovation. These initiatives are currently being implemented in major cities like Mumbai, Pune, and Nashik. Fadnavis also mentioned the expansion of the Mumbai Metro network, which is projected to grow from 11 km to approximately 350 km, with plans to operationalize an additional 70 km by next year and complete the entire network by 2029-30.

Fadnavis emphasized the importance of enhancing public transport in Tier-II cities, suggesting that it could lead to positive behavioral changes among residents. He expressed gratitude towards Mike Bloomberg and his team for their continued support, expressing confidence that this partnership would further bolster Maharashtra's development efforts.

Mike Bloomberg acknowledged Maharashtra's significance as a key economic state in India and reflected on the company's journey over the past 30 years. He recounted how Bloomberg began in a modest shared workspace and has since established its headquarters in Mumbai, employing over 100 engineers in Pune. Bloomberg plans to expand its engineering center in the city and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting public health, road safety, and clean energy initiatives across India, emphasizing that the company aims to develop solutions that benefit the people of Maharashtra and the nation at large.
