The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell of Maharashtra has officially announced the timeline for the online stray vacancy admission rounds for MBBS and BDS programs for the academic year 2026-27. This announcement comes after the conclusion of three rounds of the Centralised Admission Process (CAP), aiming to fill remaining seats across various institutions, including government and private colleges.
As per the press release dated October 16, 2026, candidates interested in participating in the first online stray vacancy round must submit their new preferences by October 18. The results for seat allotment will be disclosed on October 19, and those who are allotted seats are required to complete their admission formalities within the stipulated reporting period.
The CET Cell has detailed the schedule for the first stray vacancy round, which includes key activities such as the publication of the seat matrix, choice filling, and the physical joining process. Candidates must be aware that they need to fill fresh choices for each stray vacancy round, as previous selections will not carry over. Additionally, physical joining requires all original documents and payment of fees, which can be made through various methods as outlined in the schedule.
Eligibility for these rounds is restricted to candidates who qualified for NEET-UG 2026, registered for the state admission process, and did not receive a seat in the previous CAP rounds. Those who have already secured seats through state or All India Quota counselling are not eligible to participate in these rounds. The CET Cell emphasizes that candidates should only choose colleges they are willing to attend, as confirmation of admission is mandatory following seat allotment.
Looking ahead, candidates are encouraged to stay updated by visiting the official CET website, mahacet.org, for any changes or announcements regarding the subsequent stray vacancy rounds. The deadlines for these rounds are crucial for ensuring that all eligible candidates have the opportunity to secure their desired seats in medical programs.
