In Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on October 19, Maharashtra Minister Sanjay Shirsat spoke out against recent attacks on Bollywood actors, emphasizing that such actions are aimed at gaining publicity and instilling fear. This statement comes in light of a shooting incident involving actor Tiger Shroff, whose vehicle was fired upon in Mumbai's Juhu area on the evening of October 15. Fortunately, Shroff was unharmed, although his driver and another individual sustained injuries.

During a press conference, Shirsat highlighted the government's serious approach to the incident, noting that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had visited the scene and met with Shroff. "Strict action will be taken in this case. Efforts are going on to spread terror. Actors from Bollywood are being targeted for publicity. But the government will not let this happen," Shirsat stated, reaffirming the administration's commitment to public safety.

Shirsat also reflected on the historical context of crime in Maharashtra, recalling the period between 1995 and 1999 when the Shiv Sena-BJP government successfully dismantled criminal gangs under the leadership of then Home Minister Gopinath Munde. He suggested that the current government is equally determined to combat crime and maintain order.

In addition to addressing the shooting incident, Shirsat responded to criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut regarding the government's response to the murder of Thane leader Pradeep Purnekar. Shirsat defended Deputy Chief Minister Shinde's actions, stating that if Shinde had visited Purnekar's family, he would have faced accusations of pressuring them. Instead, he noted that Shiv Sena leader Pratap Sarnaik had visited the family to express support and ensure justice.

Looking ahead, Shirsat mentioned the upcoming legislative council polls, asserting that the party will support NCP's Satish Chavan as their official candidate, despite previous tensions. He indicated that Eknath Shinde would communicate with former minister Abdul Sattar to clarify party directives. The minister's remarks reflect a broader commitment to party unity and adherence to established policies, reinforcing the government's stance on both public safety and internal party matters.
