On October 25, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar, inaugurated significant development projects near the Navi Mumbai International Airport. This initiative aims to enhance regional connectivity and unlock the area's growth potential.

During the inauguration, CM Fadnavis remarked on the economic impact of the airport, suggesting it could contribute an additional one percentage point to the region's GDP. He stressed the importance of systematic development in the Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA), warning that without proper planning, growth could become chaotic and unsustainable. Fadnavis noted that the groundwork for this development was laid back in 2015, with notifications issued for several villages to facilitate this growth.

Deputy CM Shinde described the inauguration as a pivotal moment for the NAINA region, linking the airport and Atal Setu projects to the broader vision of a “Third Mumbai.” He expressed optimism about the projects serving as engines of growth and improving overall connectivity. Shinde reiterated the government’s commitment to overcoming developmental hurdles, stating that the administration's focus remains on providing essential amenities to the public.

Sunetra Pawar, also a Deputy CM, highlighted the necessity of a comprehensive transport network to support the airport's development. She explained that effective connectivity between the airport, cities, highways, and emerging growth centers is crucial. Pawar detailed plans for improved road infrastructure around the airport, including major routes designed to facilitate smoother traffic flow, which is expected to significantly benefit travelers from surrounding areas.

Looking ahead, the government plans to continue its focus on infrastructure development in the region, with specific projects aimed at enhancing access to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The estimated cost for the road projects is around 953 crore rupees, which includes a significant bridge designed to improve connectivity. The ongoing developments are anticipated to transform the region, making it more accessible and integrated with the rest of the country.
