Both leaders criticize the INDIA bloc's recent protests and their implications.
In a recent political rally in Thane, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde leveled serious accusations against the opposition coalition known as the INDIA bloc. They asserted that the bloc is inciting unrest and attempting to destabilize the nation. Fadnavis emphasized that the opposition's struggle is not merely against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) but against the very progress of the country, suggesting that their ultimate goal is to establish a regime reminiscent of China's communist government.
Fadnavis pointed out that the opposition's campaign against the special intensive revision of electoral rolls was a direct response to the removal of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from voter lists. He criticized the Congress party for recycling its outdated political agenda, arguing that their actions are aimed at creating chaos and undermining the Constitution.
Deputy CM Shinde echoed Fadnavis's sentiments, turning the tables on the opposition's accusations of vote theft. He referred to the political maneuvers following the 2019 assembly elections, claiming that the real betrayal occurred when Uddhav Thackeray's faction allied with Congress, abandoning their natural partner, the BJP. Shinde questioned the integrity of the opposition's claims regarding Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), challenging them to resign if they truly believed the system was flawed.
The leaders also condemned the INDIA bloc's recent protest march to the Supreme Court, labeling it an attempt to exert pressure on constitutional institutions. Shinde remarked that the opposition's mentality is one of either ruling the country or destroying it, asserting that such behavior would not be tolerated. He attributed the hostility towards Prime Minister Modi to his significant global standing and popularity.
As the political landscape in Maharashtra continues to evolve, the tensions between the BJP and the opposition are likely to intensify. The recent remarks from Fadnavis and Shinde highlight the ongoing rivalry and set the stage for future confrontations as both sides prepare for upcoming electoral battles.
