On Monday, Congress leader Charan Singh Sapra condemned the Maharashtra government after a shooting incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai, declaring that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated significantly. Sapra emphasized that the ongoing climate of extortion poses serious risks to public safety, particularly for high-profile individuals like film stars.
The incident has raised alarms about the effectiveness of law enforcement in Mumbai, with Sapra highlighting the contrast between police actions against students and their apparent inaction against criminal gangs. He stated that the government, led by Devendra Fadnavis, must be held accountable for allowing such incidents to occur, which he views as a direct threat to public safety.
In response to the shooting, which occurred around 7 PM, Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan announced that 20 specialized teams from the Mumbai Crime Branch have been mobilized to investigate. The police utilized CCTV footage to trace the suspects' escape route, leading to their apprehension in Kota with the help of local authorities. DCP Roshan provided details of the incident, noting that three individuals on a motorcycle were involved, with two firing shots at Shroff's vehicle before fleeing.
The Mumbai Police also addressed rumors regarding prior threats to Tiger Shroff, asserting that there is no record of any such calls before the incident. DCP Roshan confirmed that an investigation is underway to uncover any larger conspiracy, and that security protocols for VIPs are being strictly followed based on threat assessments. Currently, three suspects have been arrested, with two hailing from Haryana and one from Bihar.
As the investigation continues, the implications of this incident extend beyond the immediate case, raising concerns about the overall safety and security in Maharashtra. The government faces increasing pressure to restore public confidence in law enforcement and address the growing issue of organized crime. Future developments in this case will be closely monitored as authorities work to ensure the safety of citizens and public figures alike.
