In a significant development, the Central Cyber Crime Police in Jaipur have apprehended Ravindra Jitendra Prasad Singh, a gym trainer from Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra, for his alleged involvement in a cyber fraud case amounting to Rs 2.12 crore. This case involved a scheme where an Additional Director General (ADG) of the Geological Survey of India was subjected to a 'digital arrest' scam, which has raised serious concerns about the rising incidents of cybercrime in the region.

The investigation into this case began when authorities received reports of a sophisticated cyber fraud operation. The police utilized various investigative techniques, including the analysis of call detail records, bank statements, and KYC documentation, to trace Singh's involvement. It was discovered that he was connected to the fraudsters through a Telegram channel named 'BRO PAY,' where he played a crucial role in facilitating the operations of the cybercriminals.

Singh is accused of providing mule bank accounts and assisting in the transfer of suspicious funds. He also arranged accommodations for another accomplice, Rohit Revan Katakdhond, and managed essential banking documents and electronic devices. The police arrested Singh in Ulhasnagar and transported him to Jaipur, where he is currently in custody as investigations continue to uncover the broader network of cybercriminals involved.

The fraudulent scheme targeted an ADG of the GSI, who was manipulated into believing he was under investigation for money laundering. The perpetrators, posing as law enforcement officials, conducted WhatsApp video calls with the victim, using fake documents to intimidate him into transferring large sums of money. Overwhelmed by fear, the victim transferred Rs 2.12 crore into various accounts as instructed by the fraudsters, who then laundered the money through multiple channels.

Authorities are now focusing on gathering more information about other individuals connected to this cyber fraud network. Interrogations are being conducted under the supervision of Gajendra Sharma, the Station House Officer of the Central Cyber Crime police station. The case highlights the urgent need for increased vigilance and preventive measures against cybercrime, as the methods employed by these criminals become increasingly sophisticated.
