In a significant development for the Siddhivinayak Temple in Mumbai, the Maharashtra government has approved an expenditure of ₹94.12 crore for the acquisition of 20 units in Ram Mansion, located adjacent to the temple in the Prabhadevi area. This acquisition includes 13 residential flats and seven commercial spaces, covering a total area of approximately 708 square meters, aimed at enhancing the temple's facilities and crowd management.

The decision, formalized in a government resolution dated October 15, outlines that the funds for this purchase will be sourced from the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganpati Mandir Trust's existing resources, ensuring no financial burden on the state exchequer. The property is strategically positioned next to the temple’s waiting hall, which is crucial for managing the large influx of devotees, especially during peak festival seasons.

Under the approved terms, the residential units will be acquired at ₹66,000 per square foot, while the commercial units will be purchased at ₹1.11 lakh per square foot. The total approved amount encompasses not only the purchase price but also associated costs such as stamp duty and registration charges, which will also be covered by the trust's funds. This acquisition is part of a larger expansion initiative estimated to cost around ₹100 crore.

The temple, a major pilgrimage site, sees a significant number of visitors from across India and beyond, particularly during festivals. The current facilities have struggled to accommodate the growing number of devotees, leading to challenges in queue management and the provision of essential amenities. The additional property is expected to alleviate these issues by providing necessary facilities such as a waiting area, kitchen, storage, and accommodation for pilgrims.

Looking ahead, the trust is also exploring the potential acquisition of the adjoining Siddhivinayak Cooperative Housing Society, which could further enhance the available space for future developments. The acquisition process will adhere to government regulations, including verification of property records and completion of necessary agreements with rights holders. This strategic move is anticipated to significantly improve the overall experience for devotees visiting the temple.
