The Maharashtra government has confirmed that it is in touch with 338 of the 404 individuals stranded in Nepal following devastating flash floods and mudslides. As of August 29, 2026, 41 tourists have successfully returned from Saga, while another 106 are expected to arrive in Nagpur early on August 30. Additionally, 45 tourists from an Ahilyanagar-based travel agency have also made their way back to India.
Efforts are ongoing to establish contact with eight individuals from Mumbai who remain untraceable. The government has set up helplines to assist those stranded, and agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safe return of all citizens. The Ministry of External Affairs is collaborating with state officials to facilitate the return of Indian tourists who have safely entered Nepal from China, with plans for their swift return to their respective districts.
