The Adani Institute of Higher Education and Research (AIHER) held its 17th Convocation on October 17, 2026, in Wardha, where Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.) degree. This event marked the first convocation since the institution's renaming from Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research. Chancellor Dr Priti Adani presided over the ceremony, celebrating the achievements of the graduates and the institution's legacy.
The convocation awarded a total of 2,320 degrees across various disciplines, including 123 Ph.D. degrees. Among the honorees was Dr Abhijat Sheth, Chairperson of the National Medical Commission, who received the Honorary Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) degree for his significant contributions to medical education and public health in India. The event highlighted the university's commitment to academic excellence and its role in shaping future leaders in various fields.
In his address, CM Fadnavis emphasized the importance of giving back to society, stating, "The definition of success is not how much money you earn. The definition of success is how much you can give back." He humorously acknowledged the hard work of Ph.D. graduates, expressing gratitude for not having to endure the same rigorous academic journey. Dr Priti Adani also reflected on the significance of the day, honoring the vision of the late Shri Datta Meghe, whose contributions continue to influence the institution.
The Adani Institute, located in Sawangi Meghe, has expanded significantly since its inception, now hosting over 14,000 students across 260 multidisciplinary programs. The university's faculties cover a wide range of fields, including medical and dental sciences, engineering, and allied health sciences. The institution aims to prepare students for impactful careers while fostering community engagement and innovation.
Looking ahead, AIHER plans to continue its growth and enhance its educational offerings. With an A++ accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, the university is well-positioned to maintain its high standards of education and research. Future developments include expanding its off-campus presence and further enhancing its academic programs to meet the evolving needs of society.
