Maharashtra CM Confirms Timely Completion of Kumbh Mela Projects

On October 11, 2026, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis conducted an inspection of the ongoing infrastructure projects in Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, aimed at facilitating the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela. He reported that the construction work is progressing smoothly and is expected to be completed within the planned timeline.
During his visit, CM Fadnavis reviewed several key locations in both temple towns, expressing his satisfaction with the construction pace. He emphasized the importance of developing ghats, pilgrim pathways, and addressing traffic congestion to accommodate the anticipated influx of devotees during the Kumbh Mela.
"I have inspected the ongoing works in Trimbak and Nashik. The work is progressing very well and will be completed on schedule," CM Fadnavis stated. He highlighted that the Dwarka Circle project is a significant initiative aimed at alleviating traffic issues in Nashik, which is crucial for the smooth flow of visitors.
The state government is undertaking substantial infrastructure improvements in preparation for the Kumbh Mela, focusing on enhancing the riverfront along the Godavari River, constructing ring roads, and upgrading civic amenities. These efforts are designed to ensure that millions of pilgrims can access the sacred sites comfortably.
The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela is set to occur from October 31, 2026, to July 24, 2028, with the main bathing rituals scheduled for 2027. This event, which takes place every 12 years, draws large crowds for the holy dip in the Godavari River, marking a significant religious gathering in the region.
