In a proactive move to address the spread of misinformation, the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has formed a social media monitoring task force. This initiative aims to scrutinize posts related to entrance examinations and admission processes, particularly focusing on false claims and misleading information circulating on various platforms.

The CET Cell's decision comes in response to a surge in misleading content observed on social media, including platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and WhatsApp. A circular issued on October 19, 2026, highlighted concerns regarding false information about exam schedules, results, and the MHT CET Centralized Admission Process (CAP). Such misinformation not only confuses students and parents but also poses a risk to the credibility of the educational institution.

The task force will actively monitor and address unauthorized claims that promise to alter examination centers, inflate percentile scores, or provide other examination-related advantages. Students encountering such deceptive posts are encouraged to report them to the CET Cell at socialmedia.complaints@mahacet.org, including evidence such as links and screenshots to support their claims.

In a related development, the CET Cell has issued a legal notice to the YouTube channel 'Digital Master' for disseminating unverified information regarding the MHT CET 2027 exam dates. The authority clarified that these dates have not been officially announced and demanded the removal of the misleading video, along with a formal clarification from the channel. A copy of this notice has also been forwarded to Google India’s offices in Delhi and Mumbai.

Looking ahead, the CET Cell's task force is expected to play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of the examination process by swiftly addressing misinformation and protecting the interests of students. The authority urges all stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to ensure a fair and transparent admission process.
