In a significant development for a family in Jalna district, Maharashtra, the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) has provided essential medical support for two siblings battling thalassemia. The Sable family, residing in the Nutan Vasahat area, faced overwhelming financial challenges in managing the treatment costs for their children, but the government scheme has alleviated their burden by covering the expenses at Sanjivani Hospital.
Sandeep Sable's son, Sambodhi, was diagnosed with thalassemia at just one year old, requiring regular blood transfusions to manage his condition. Initially, Sandeep relied on his savings to fund his son's treatment; however, the ongoing medical expenses soon became unmanageable. It was during this challenging time that doctors informed the family about the Ayushman Bharat scheme, which enabled them to start Sambodhi's treatment without incurring additional costs.
The family's situation became more complex when, four years later, their daughter Sanghpriya was also diagnosed with the same genetic disorder. This double diagnosis posed a significant challenge for the Sable family, as both children now required consistent medical attention. Fortunately, Sanghpriya's treatment was also covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring that both siblings could receive the necessary care.
The children need blood transfusions approximately every 21 days, making regular medical care crucial for their health. Sandeep expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Ayushman Bharat scheme, stating that it has significantly lightened their financial load and allowed them to focus on their children's recovery. He emphasized the importance of this assistance during such a trying time for their family.
In his message to other families facing similar hardships, Sandeep encouraged them to explore the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He highlighted that many eligible families might not be aware of the support available to them, urging them to seek out information and take advantage of the healthcare assistance offered by the government.
