The EAGLE Force has successfully dismantled a suspected drug manufacturing operation located at a poultry farm in Maregaon village, Gondia district, Maharashtra. This operation was uncovered during an ongoing investigation into an alleged inter-State synthetic drug trafficking network. The raid took place on October 19, 2026, following a series of events that began earlier in August.
The investigation was initiated on August 8 when police in Bibi Nagar intercepted a vehicle, specifically a Toyota Fortuner, that was transporting a significant quantity of illegal drugs. Authorities seized 27.2 kg of mephedrone and 56.98 kg of acetone, leading to the arrest of three individuals who were subsequently placed in judicial custody. This incident marked the beginning of a deeper inquiry into the supply chains involved in synthetic drug production.
As the investigation progressed, connections were established between the suspected drug unit in Maharashtra and various labs in Hyderabad, including Vetukuri Labs and SM Labs. The EAGLE Force conducted a thorough raid on the poultry farm, focusing on the procurement and transportation of precursor chemicals essential for drug manufacturing, such as propionyl chloride. This scrutiny is expected to yield further insights into the operational network.
On October 19, the EAGLE Force arrested Jairaj Krishna Shetty, the owner of JSV Globals in Vasai, Maharashtra, on suspicion of supplying chemicals for the illegal drug trade. Additionally, Saddam Hussain, a resident of Assam living in Nalgonda district, was also taken into custody. These arrests are part of a broader investigation that has implications for drug trafficking across state lines.
Looking ahead, the EAGLE Force is expected to continue its investigations, potentially leading to more arrests and uncovering additional links within the drug trafficking network. The involvement of individuals like Penumatsa Rakesh Varma, who was previously arrested in a separate case, indicates that this investigation could have far-reaching consequences for the illegal drug trade in the region.
