Bhikan Rojekar, a 26-year-old from Jalgaon Sapkal village in Maharashtra, has achieved a significant milestone by securing All India Rank (AIR) 812 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 after four previous attempts. The results, announced on March 6, mark a culmination of years of hard work and determination, particularly poignant for Rojekar, who faced setbacks, including narrowly missing an MBBS seat by just one mark in 2016.
Rojekar's journey is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Coming from a family of agricultural laborers, he initially pursued a degree in Agriculture after his MBBS aspirations fell short. His parents, Jagan and his mother, worked tirelessly in the fields, instilling in him the values of hard work and dedication. Their sacrifices motivated Rojekar to keep striving for success, and his father expressed immense pride in his son's achievement, emphasizing the importance of serving the community with integrity.
In 2021, Rojekar began his serious preparation for the UPSC exams, moving to Delhi the following year. His efforts were bolstered by the BARTI scholarship from the Maharashtra Government, which provided him with essential resources and financial support during his studies. This scholarship is designed to assist eligible Scheduled Caste candidates in accessing coaching facilities, covering expenses and providing a monthly stipend, which proved crucial for Rojekar as he navigated the competitive landscape of civil services preparation.
Rojekar's preparation was not limited to the UPSC; he also reached the final stages of three other competitive examinations, showcasing his dedication and versatility. His approach involved understanding the examination patterns, analyzing past question papers, and developing strong writing skills for the Main examination. He advocates for a systematic study plan and emphasizes the need for aspirants to remain adaptable, as the unpredictable nature of competitive exams necessitates having a Plan B.
Looking ahead, Rojekar's success serves as an inspiration for many aspiring civil servants, particularly those from rural backgrounds. His journey highlights the importance of perseverance, strategic preparation, and the value of having alternative career options. As he prepares to enter public service, Rojekar aims to leverage his education and experiences to make a meaningful impact in society, reminding others that success is often a result of resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges.
