In Thane, Maharashtra, a significant incident occurred on Sunday when a section of the terrace gallery of a four-storey residential building collapsed, leading to the evacuation of 80 residents. The collapse was reported at approximately 2:20 PM, according to local officials.
The building, known as Sangam Sadan, is 35 years old and located in Kishan Nagar. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as a result of the collapse, although debris from the incident caused damage to four parked two-wheelers on the premises. Yasin Tadvi, the chief of the Regional Disaster Management Cell, confirmed the details of the incident.
Following the collapse, officials acted promptly to ensure the safety of the residents. All 80 individuals living in the building were evacuated, and alternative accommodation was arranged for them to ensure their well-being. The building's structural integrity is now under scrutiny, and repairs will be necessary to address the damage caused by the collapse.
