In a brazen theft, a truck carrying 20 tonnes of cloves, valued at approximately Rs 2 crore, was robbed while en route from Maharashtra to Delhi. The incident came to light on October 14 when an official from ABC Express Company reported the missing consignment to the Sector 10 police station. The truck, which was transporting the spices, was found abandoned near Bawal, with evidence suggesting that the goods had been transferred to another vehicle.

The consignment was initially loaded at Nhava Sheva in Maharashtra, and the driver received the delivery address on October 11. However, the spices never reached their intended destination, and attempts to contact the driver were unsuccessful as both of his mobile phones were turned off. The investigation revealed that the truck had been tracked to Sector 93 on the night of October 12, leading police to discover scattered cloves and bag labels in the vicinity, indicating that the cargo had been offloaded.

Following the discovery, police registered a case and initiated an investigation. A Crime Branch team from Bilaspur arrested three individuals near Pasco Fitting Centre in Rathwas. The suspects were identified as Manan and Junaid from Nuh district, and Aziz from Barpeta district in Assam. During their interrogation, they confessed to unloading the cloves at a secluded location in the Sector 88-89 area and transferring them to two other trucks.

According to police spokesperson Sandeep Turan, the accused had planned to transport the stolen cloves to Assam for resale. Authorities managed to recover 20 tonnes and 900 kg of the stolen cloves, along with the two trucks used in the operation. The total value of the recovered consignment is estimated to be around Rs 2 crore.

The three suspects are set to be presented in court, where police will request their custody for further investigation. The case remains active as authorities continue to probe the details surrounding this significant theft.
